Because I've read books for decades I'm often reminded of past readings and adventures told during each book.That isn't the case here. Mr. Howard is a fresh voice to speculative fiction. Often, even the concepts of his stories are unique to his voice. For that reason, and because he articulates so well, the pictures he paints with words would be well deserving of a one-man-show if they were actual paintings.
I'm short - I LOVE his style! I hope he never stops being an artist!

I left off reading The Pool wondering what was going to happen next, and The Summertime Stairs doesn't disappoint. There are some surprises along the way that make this a great read.
Not sure what is going in this story but I'm willing to give it to the third book to find out.
Howard's imaginative writing is vastly represented through this work.
Just as easy-reading as part 1 of the series & left me questioning and wanting more.
My kind of read.
Definitely read these as you would a serial, with the understanding that they must be read in order to make sense. Good, quick reads, though. Interesting, unique (to my knowledge, anyway) premise, and that's hard to find these days.
I like Allison, Jenn, Jess - but don't have a clue who or what she is. She is clearly connected to the first story The Pool. I have to read the third to see what happens.
